Education Specialist Victor oversees homework and tutoring at the center and is currently our online lead math teacher. He came to the center with more than nine years experience as a math teacher and tutor for two charter schools. A Washington Preparatory High School graduate, Victor served for two years there as a volunteer assistant debate coach. He has an AA in animation from Santa Monica Community College and is completing his bachelor's degree in math at Western Governor's University.
Program Coordinator Marissa was raised in Inglewood,Ca and graduated from City Honors College Preparatory Academy in 2021. She is currently attending Santa Monica College as a Freshman majoring in English. "I feel like I'm part of the change that the center is trying to accomplish and it makes me feel good that I can give back as part of the staff as others gave back when I was a student here."
Community Outreach Specialist Lauryn was raised in Gardena, Ca, not far from the center. She graduated from San Jose` State University with a B.A. in Sociology and double minors in African American Studies and Justice Studies in 2020. She now assists the center in all things related to community development and planning. Her passion for giving back to her community and background in social justice work is what drove her to join our team at the Wooten Center as a Public Allies intern in 2021.
Education Specialist Jason is a current student at El Camino Community College where he is studying Psychology. Jason is a math teacher at the center and also helps engage students in fun and enriching activities in virtual playground.
Program Administrator Angelica was raised in Watts and is currently enrolled at Cerritos College where she is majoring in Nursing and Computer Science. Her passion is to help inspire students in Computer Science and Engineering just as others have inspired her. In her role she assists with student and parent activities and daily operations at the center. "The Wooten Center is a welcoming and supportive environment that encourages students and staff to achieve higher."
Executive Director Naomi has more than 30 years in nonprofit management, including over 20 years as a youth center executive director. She has a BA in journalism and marketing from CSU Northridge and an MA in intercultural studies and children at risk from Fuller Theological Seminary where she wrote her thesis on gang prevention in LA. Naomi received a nonprofit certificate from USC in 2020 and the United Way of Greater LA's first Power of Her Award in 2018. She is a certified CalSAC trainer.
Education Specialist Isidra Person-Lynn has a BA in English from Union College and an MA in journalism from USC. She formerly worked on air as public affairs director for KACE radio and as a professor teaching English and journalism at West Los Angeles College. She most recently worked in communications at Charles Drew University, where she retired. Isidra is currently our lead English language arts teacher.
Associate Director Christelle has a bachelor's degree in educational services management from CSU Long Beach. She oversees daily operations for our afterschool and summer programs, including supervising our staff, interns and volunteers and assisting our executive director with program development and administration. Christelle has served at the center since 2011 and is dedicated to helping our students excel. She teaches our weekly world languages and culture with cooking class.

There are a lot of caring souls at the Wooten Center. All of our staff members are committed to helping our students achieve their best. They are also great at working together like family, being patient and instructive with our kids, always striving for that safe and nurturing environment our mission calls for. We appreciate everyone for their dedication for our students.
All Wooten staff members are college graduates or students engaging in continuing education and networking opportunities provided by agencies including the California School-Age Consortium/National Afterschool Association, LA County Office of Education, Center for Nonprofit Management, Compass Point, Southern California College Access Network, Grantmanship Center, LA County Public Health and others.
