About the Event

September is HKS Architects' month of service and we’re excited to have them visit the center. Join us as we sort and label about 100-200 books, and organize them by the Dewey Decimal System.

HKS staff helped complete phase 1 of our library reorganization in 2019 (as shown in the pic with HKS and LMU volunteers and Wooten parents and staff) and are coming back for the final step putting the books in order by categories and age groups.

Thank you to our board member Leslie Fishburn, a VP at HKS, for leading the charge! Also thanks to LMU library staff Jamie Hazlitt and Carol Raby for their consult on how to organize library books!

Open to HKS staff and friends and Wooten Center teens and adults (current afterschool families and alums).

Click to RSVP. Thank you for joining us!

For more information, call our associate director Christelle Telesford at (323) 756-7203.

ABOUT HKS

HKS Architects is a global design firm with local projects including designing the beautiful and innovative SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, home to the Rams and Chargers football teams.

Our executive director Naomi McSwain met our current board member and HKS VP and interior designer Leslie Fishburn at Loyola Marymount University and the two struck up a beautiful friendship with their shared love for providing quality care and facilities for children.

Leslie went on to recruit HKS vendors Sherwin Williams and Mannington Carpet to donate the materials needed for our phase 1 renovation completed in 2019 in our three south buildings. Our colorful walls and beautiful premium carpet are thanks to their contributions based on colors chosen by our students working with Rick Shlemmer from SAA interiors + architecture.

Leslie volunteered to consult on the phase 1 interior design choices in furnishings and layout that resulted in the library and computer lab decor you see today. She is continuing to work with our staff on our phase 2 renovation for our three north buildings.

This is how it happens, folks! Our village at work! Thank you to everyone for another day of service for our youth and community.
