Teen Job Shop Workshop Flyer

Teen Job Shop is on hold till further notice due to the pandemic. It's one thing to refer a teen to a job and another to ensure they know how to obtain one. Our Teen Job Shop provides practical hands-on experience creating resumes, completing applications and preparing for interviews and follow ups for summer or other jobs. Held in partnership with our youth employment partners.

Teen Helper Internships

Wooten students ages 13 and up can receive job experience and mentoring as Teen Helpers serving as volunteers or paid interns through one of our employment partners (Brotherhood Crusade, Hire LA's Youth, Yo' Watts, California Workforce Development and the Archdiocesan Youth Employment Services). Must be age 14 for salaries. The youth are paid by the employment agencies to work at the Wooten Center or other sites. Click here for a list of our employment partners.
 

Teen Scholars for Grades 8-12 Flyer 

Students in grades 8-12 create plans for high school success and college admissions at meetings held the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays with our college and career advisors. Click here for more info.

Teen Talk with WeMentor360 (formerly iMentor) Flyer

Held weekly on Thursdays, 6-7:30pm, on Zoom with Rick McGregor, executive director of WeMentor360. Teens discuss an array of topics from gang prevention to cyberbullying and human trafficking.

College Fairs and Tours

Visits to college fairs and tours at local colleges are held annually. Locations are based on student interests.

Juvenile Justice Jeopardy

Juvenile Justice Jeopardy is on hold till further notice due to the pandemic. JJJ is a "game" for teens discussing juvenile law and how to exercise your rights. Periodically includes discussions and role-playing with LAPD and other law enforcement. Developed by Attorney Lisa Thurau, founder and executive director of Strategies for Youth in Boston, and conducted at the center in partnership with iMentor, New Point Mentoring and Los Angeles Metropolitan Churches.
