What is CollegeTrek Online?

CollegeTrek Online is a virtual afterschool program with college and career readiness for students in grades 3-12. The program held at our youth center at 91st and Western in South Los Angeles went online in March 2020 due to the pandemic.

What do we offer? Where are activities held?

Diagnostics and private tutoring in reading and math, homework assistance, and various classes and workshops, are held on Zoom at no cost, thanks to our donors

When are activities held?

All tutoring, classes and workshops are held during our afterschool hours, Mon-Fri, 2-7pm.

How do you register?

Click here to complete our registration form. We will send an email confirmation of your student's enrollment. Once registered, students and parents can join all Wooten activities on our schedule. A link will be provided to our logins page. Feel free to follow up with our contact below.

What is private tutoring?
Students meet one-on-one with a tutor for 45 minutes per session. Students can receive up to three sessions per week. Tutors can help with homework and/or use our online i-Ready lessons for instruction in reading and math. After registration, parents will receive a link to book the sessions according to your preferences in tutors and hours.

Who are the tutors?

All tutors are college graduates or students. They consist of Wooten staff as lead teachers, and volunteers from USC, UCLA, Loyola, Pepperdine, St. John's, UC Berkeley, and other universities. Wooten board members from Pepperdine, Merrill Lynch and PineBridge Investments also volunteer. All volunteers receive background checks.

What is i-Ready?
All private tutoring students complete our i-Ready diagnostics in reading and/or math (your choice) to obtain a study plan with lessons based on their challenges. i-Ready uses adaptive learning to adjust to the student's progress. As students improve, the lessons become more challenging. Students will receive their own i-Ready login to work with and without our tutors.

What if they took i-Ready at school?

If your student has already completed the i-Ready diagnostics at their school, contact our office at 323-690-2167 to discuss the options. Teachers must give permission for tutors to access the school accounts to help students avoid having to take the tests again at the center.
